In addition to branded products, the database also includes generic (non-branded) foods, such as apples, chicken breasts, or cooked rice.
Generic foods do not represent a specific product or brand. They contain average nutritional values for a given type of food, which are based on international food databases.
When to use them?
Generic foods are suitable for example:
- when you are preparing a meal from common ingredients,
- when branded food is missing some information (e.g. fiber or calcium),
- when you need to enter a meal for guidance.
When NOT to use them?
If you are entering a specific product from a store, we recommend using the barcode or searching for its exact name. The nutritional values will then correspond to what you actually eat.
