Why you can't set your intake below your basal metabolic rate?

You may have noticed that the app doesn't allow you to set your daily energy intake below a certain limit. This limit corresponds to your basal metabolic rate (BMR), the amount of energy your body needs just to function. For your heart to beat, your brain, lungs and all your vital organs to work. In some cases, a small safety margin is added to this value to ensure that your body has sufficient energy.

If you were to consume less energy than this limit for a long time, your body wouldn't have enough energy to carry out even basic processes. This can lead to muscle loss, extreme fatigue, concentration problems, weakened immunity or hormonal imbalance. That's why the app doesn't allow you to set your intake below your BMR. It protects your health and helps you stay within safe limits.

The purpose of Dine4Fit is not to force you to drastically cut back, but rather to guide you towards gradual, healthy and sustainable weight loss. Much more important than the lowest possible numbers is to feel good, have enough energy for everyday life and give your body all the necessary nutrients.

Also remember that the application is a tool, not a medical recommendation. If you are not sure what is right for you, it is always a good idea to consult your plan with a specialist, a general practitioner or a nutritional therapist. App are intended to help you better understand your own diet and be an effective tool for checking that your body is really getting 100% of what it needs.
